Young detectives have been scavenging for clues in an exciting treasure hunt organised by traders to promote Caversham as a great place to shop. The Caversham Beachcomber Competition began at the start of the summer holidays inviting children up to the age of 11 to search for seaside objects in the village. Ten shops got behind the family event organised by Caversham Traders' Association including Reading Retail Awards winner The Blue Duck Gallery. Entry forms are available at various shops around the village and each bsuiness with a clue has a poster in the window and a sticker next to the item in question. Families have until August 31st to complete the treasure hunt to be in with a chance of winning a whole host of prizes including a Nintendo Wii and a meal for two at L'Ortolan. Chris Walton, from Caversham Traders' Association said: "Caversham has a lot to offer and this is a great way of keeping the kids happy during the school holiday and getting parents to look round. "It's proving very popular. We've had quite a few kids in doing the rounds. Some parents have come back with a different child, so there is a lot of determination to win it..."
