A framer's family business has teamed up with The Blue Duck Gallery after deciding they want to concentrate on what they do best. Ray Follows, 58, runs Dales Turn Picture Framers in Prospect Street and has become a master of his craft during the 25 years he has been framing. His son and daughter have joined the firm and have moved their shop to the gallery in Hemdean Road, just a stone's throw away. Daughter and business partner, Alana Follows, 24, said: "We came to the decision as a family that we would become more of an industrial unit which is how my father started out. Running a shop is a full-time job and the framing work we do is becoming increasingly three dimensional, so we want to dedicate time to what we do best." Dales Turn provide frames for all kinds of things, from football shirts to wedding flowers. The Blue Duck Gallery has been open for a year and owner Clare Varley is looking forward to the change. She said: "This is fabulous news both for the gallery and for Dales Turn. It will enable the framers to continue to offer their service, while also allowing the gallery to get more involved in a very different side of the art business." Alana said: "Our work goes hand-in-hand with art so it makes sense." Henley Standard - April 28th 2006 |
