Artists from across Reading will descend on Caversham this weekend to show off their latest pieces. The Blue Duck Gallery in Hemdean Road hosts a two-day show, called RG20, featuring the work of 20 of the town's most gifted artists.
The gallery, which usually exhibits work by artists, designers and craftsmen from all over Britain, will be given over entirely to painters, jewellers, potters, textile artists, papermakers and sculptors from Reading and the surrounding areas. Among those whose work will be on display are: * Sarah Heppner, a Reading arist who creates paintings capturing the relationship between water and glass. * Kirsten Jones from Wargrave, who takes inspiration for her paintings and collages from travels around the world. * Cathy Newell Price and Claire Wilkinson, both jewellers from Earley, who frequently participate in the White Knights Trail. * Kate Williams, who makes luxurious woollen scarves from her Shinfield home. * Vicky Baker, from Caversham, formerly a theatre costume designer who has turned her hand to creating handbags, and more. Gallery owner, Clare Varley, says: "Don't make the mistake of thinking that because the work we are displaying is created by home-grown talent that it won't be of a good standard. "Many of our featured artists are members of the Hampshire and Berkshire Guilds of Craftsmen and the Oxfordshire Crafts Guild, and they supply their professional and beautifully finished work to galleries and top quality art fairs around the country."
