Paul Gunn, formally one of the country’s leading pencil illustrators, has more recently turned his hand to acrylic
paintings on large canvases. Paul, who hails from Flackwell Heath, has a portfolio which includes mainly land- and
seascapes. His style is deceptively simple but his stunningly beautiful paintings have wonderful tonal relationships.
Howard Birchmore is an acrylic artist from Tilehurst who has been painting professionally for 9 years. His specialty
lies in capturing the light, mood and atmosphere of a location. Particularly spectacular is Howard’s ability to
capture the play of light on water. He paints seascapes of all different types from stormy Cornish coastlines to
sunsets over the waterways of Venice. Lovers of romantic locations will not be disappointed.
Before moving to Dorset Stephen Foster was one of Berkshire’s most eminent and widely collected watercolour landscape
artists. He is originally from Tilehurst and may be known to some of you from Goring Mill Gallery where he was
spectacularly successful. He now paints abstracts and semi-abstracts using acrylics and exhibits in some of southern
England’s most prestigious galleries.
Clive Eastland used to live in Inkpen just beyond Newbury. He is now based in Northamptonshire although his heart
belongs in Berkshire. Clive is completely self-taught but has been a full time professional artist for the last six
years. He enjoys painting a wide range of subjects although it is his love of landscape in all its forms, beaches,
fields, trees and sky that dominates his recent work. Clive uses pastels almost exclusively. Drawing on the subtlety
of light and mood he loves the richness and vivid colour inherent in the pastel medium and likes to convey a sense of
atmosphere in his paintings.
